[37.09] The HI Structure of NGC 1784

D. L. Ratay, S. Gottesman (University of Florida)

We present Very Large Array DnC and CnB configuration observations of the barred spiral galaxy NGC 1784. We detect the presence of a large HI ring that encompasses the eastern side of the galaxy. We also detect peculiarities in the distribution of HI within the galaxy itself. The morphology of this system may be the result of an interaction with a previously undiscovered companion galaxy.
