[14.11] Imaging with SISP: A preliminary study

J. Rajagopal, R.J. Allen, T. Boeker (STScI)

The Stellar Imager and Seismic Probe (SISP) is a mission concept being developed by NASA-GSFC. It is intended to provide high resolution images of stars in the optical-UV wavelength range. Because of a requirement for rapid imaging of time-variable phenomena, SISP is likely to include a dilute-aperture direct-imaging (``Fizeau'') mode.

In this poster, we describe an initial study of imaging with SISP in the Fizeau mode. We have used a modified version of an imaging simulator developed for the Space Interferometry Mission. Using the simulator, we explore the performance of SISP for some simple simulated stellar targets. The aim of this program will be to arrive at a quantitative evaluation of sensitivity, angular resolution and dynamic range for a range of proposed design parameters and configurations for SISP.
