[46.06] Classification of the Variable Star V402 Cephei

S.D. Beckstrand, A. McLean, E. Hintz (Brigham Young University)

The star V402 Cephei is listed in the HIPPARCOS catalog as a variable star of unknown type. It has never been observed extensively before now. It was selected for study based on a number of \delta Scuti like characteristics. Preliminary observations taken at Brigham Young University confirm a primary period of about three hours, but also show at least one long-term, low-amplitude period. V light curves, (B-V) data, and spectra have been obtained to help classify this star. However, the type of variation is still unclear.
