[44.21] Preliminary Baade-Wesselink Radii Solutions for Several Dwarf Cepheids

L. R. Schwendiman, M. D. Joner (Brigham Young University), C. D. Laney (South African Astrophysical Observatory)

It has been shown (Laney 1995) that VJHK photometry when combined with radial velocities leads to improved Baade-Wesselink radii solutions for Cepheids. Preliminary results indicate the same method can be applied to dwarf Cepheids (also known as High-Amplitude Delta Scuti stars). Our observations obtained at the South African Astrophysical Observatory include echelle spectroscopy with simultaneous visual and infrared photometry. This procedure helps remove phase discrepancies and strengthen the radius solution. Initial results for BS Aqr, AD CMi, RY Lep, and EH Lib are presented.

Special thanks to SAAO for the observing time, support from the American Astronomical Society through a small research grant, and continued funding from the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Brigham Young University.
