A Chandra 30ks HETGS observation of the X-ray transient microquasar GRS~1915+105 reveals absorption edges and faint line emission. We find evidence for prominent edges at 1.74Å(7.13~keV), 5.02Å(2.46 keV), 9.52Å(1.30 keV), and 6.74Å(1.83~keV) corresponding to neutral iron, sulphur, magnesium, and silicon. The resulting absoption columns exceed the value expected from Galactic absorption. This could be cold absorbing material intrinsic to GRS~1915+105. The Si-edge shows structure which may be explained by a more complex morphology of the absorbing material. Neutral and ionized features are superposed on the continuum.
