[45.03] Interferometric Observations of Vega

We present H (1.65 \mum) and K (2.2 \mum)sub-AU angular size measurements for Vega obtained at the Palomar Testbed Interferometer (PTI). These data are part of a long term observational program using PTI to characterize the sub-AU morphology of Vega-like stars. The mean infrared angular diameter of Vega is measured to be 3.28±.06 milliarcseconds. Known flux and distance estimates, coupled with mean angular size, yield values for the effective temperature and linear radius of 9600±30 K and 2.74±.05 solar radii, respectively. The Vega data show no apparent dependence upon wavelength or position angle, from which we infer upper limits on the the dust shell or disk that is expected to surround the primary.
