[125.02] Evaluation of the beaming model for X-ray emission from the 3C 273 Jet

D. E. Harris (SAO), H. Krawczynski (Yale U.)

We apply the bulk relativistic model for radio jets at large distances from the nucleus (Coletti et al. astro-ph/0008021 and Tavecchio et al. astro-ph/0007441) to knots in the jet of 3C 273. We consider methods to differentiate between X-ray synchrotron and X-ray inverse Compton processes. We also discuss some of the ramifications of the beaming model: the segment of the electron energy spectrum responsible for the emission and the implied length of the jet. Work at SAO has been partially supported by NASA contract NAS8-39073.
