[51.12] Searching for Terrestrial Planets: The Road to TPF

C. Beichman (JPL)

The Terrestrial Planet Finder (TPF) program at JPL has asked four university and industry teams to look at a broad suite of design concepts to satisfy the TPF goals of finding and characterizing terrestrial planets around nearby stars. The concepts under study include an IR nulling interferometer, visible light and infrared coronagraphs, and an sparse aperture hyper telescope. I will summarize these concepts and discuss the state of NASA planning for TPF.
