[51.21] Overview of SIM

M. Shao (JPL)

SIM, the Space Interferometry Mission is a ultra high precision astrometric interferometer. Last year, NASA issued an A.O. for the SIM science team and selected 10 key projects and 5 mission scientists. Approximately 50 science observing time was allocated in this first AO. This paper has two parts, one is a brief description of how SIM works, and the second is an introduction to the science in the 10 key projects.
