[18.03] Probing the Density Structure of Envelopes and Disks with Sub-Arcsecond Millimeter Imaging

Millimeter interferometric observations are now producing spectacular sub-arcsecond resolution images necessary to directly study the inner circumstellar envelopes and the circumstellar disks of young stellar objects. These data are very complementary to the beautiful optical and infrared images of young systems being acquired by the HST and ground telescopes, providing a more complete description of the circumstellar environment. We present an overview of the BIMA sub-arcsecond imaging of both deeply embedded systems (so called Class 0 objects) and near-infrared or optically visible T Tauri systems. We focus the discussion upon the morphology of the dust structures, resolving circumstellar disks in T Tauri systems, probing for the earliest disks in the embedded systems, and the modeling results of the density structure of both the inner envelope and disk.
