[5.15] The VLBA Calibrator Survey

The VLBA Calibrator Survey is a 2.3 & 8.4 GHz VLBI survey of a complete sample of 2200 flat-spectrum sources north of -30 degrees declination, designed to provide scientifically useful images and phase-reference calibrator information to the astronomical community. Images and sub-milliarcsecond positions for the sources are now available online via a graphical search engine. Imaging the sources with the Caltech DIFMAP program has produced a typical rms noise of 3 mJy, with 100:1 dynamic range. The astrometry was performed using AIPS and the GSFC CALC/SOLVE package, generating new source positions in the International Celestial Reference Frame (ICRF) after correcting for various geometric and ionospheric errors. Formal errors are less than 1 mas for 70% of the survey (2 mas for 85%). A summary of the survey results is presented.
