Study of martian upper atmosphere waves is performed with the use of the General Circulation Model developed jointly by LMD (Paris), AOPP (Oxford) and IAA (Granada). The model extends to approximately 120 km and includes non-LTE effects for the higher regions. Simulations under different conditions are used to establish the relevance of certain effects, like in situ NIR thermal forcing in the upper atmosphere, on the wave structure at those heights. Comparisons with data obtained from the accelerometer on board of the Mars Global Surveyor are then analysed.
