[13.10] Working with Informal Education: Opportunities for Scientists to Work with the Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA)

R. Betrue (Jet Propulsion Laboratory)

Working with informal education organizations present us with unique high leverage opportunities to share our scientific knowledge. One of these opportunities involves partnering with the Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA). We have the opportunity of reaching more than 25 million girls as well as their parents, leaders, and councils. The Solar System Exploration Education and Public Outreach Forum (SSE EPO Forum) is acting as the OSS lead for the partnership with Girl Scouts of the USA.

The SSE EPO Forum can help scientists teach girls (and their parents) not to fear science. We can provide training in informal education, make connections between scientists and GSUSA councils and national headquarters, help submit articles for their national "Leader Magazine", and much more.
