[14.12] Exploration of the Outer Planets: A Community Panel Report

G.L. Bjoraker (GSFC), A. Coustenis (Meudon Obs.), P. Gierasch (Cornell), H. Hammel (SSI), A. Ingersoll (Caltech), J. Lunine (Arizona), K. Rages (Ames), R. Yelle (NAU), S. Atreya (Michigan), R. Beebe (NMSU), K. Baines, S. Bolton, S. Edgington, A.J. Friedson, G. Orton (JPL)

A community panel was formed to provide input on the future of Outer Planet exploration. Our goal is to define one or more underlying scientific themes, identify key scientific questions, define specific measurement objectives, mission requirements, and priorities. These results will be documented in a white paper that will be submitted to the NRC Panel on Giant Planets in November 2001. This panel, in turn, will contribute to a higher level study entitled "A New Strategy for Solar System Exploration", which is a decadal report for planetary science analogous to that provided to NASA by the astrophysical community.
