The Deep Lens Survey is an ongoing wide-field survey project being carried out by a team of ~20 researchers at several institutions using the MOSAIC cameras at the KPNO and CTIO 4m telescopes. The project will observe seven separate 4-square-degree patches of the sky in four filters (B,V,R,z') to produce calibrated photometric catalogs of millions of galaxies. The third year of data acquisition is underway; the data quality has been good and quite uniform. The median seeing for the R-band images has been ~ 0.8\arcsec. The primary goals of the survey are to measure the large-scale weak lensing signal to distinguish between cosmological models, and to measure the evolution of mass clustering with redshift and use this to constrain dark energy models. In addition, we are undertaking a program to make real-time detection of optical transient events, in order to probe the time-variability domain at faint magnitudes.
