[137.11] UV Observations of OH, NH & CH Lines Using HDS on Subaru Telescope

High dispersion spectroscopy in the near-ultraviolet using a large ground-based telescope offers a means of directly intercomparing relative abundances of the CNO elements in F, G and K-type stars over a wide range of luminosity and metallicity.

Preliminary results are presented for a sequence of moderate to very metal-poor G and K-type stars observed in the wavelength range of 3080-4750 A using the High Dispersion Spectrograph (HDS) on Subaru Telescope in a study of the relative abundances of CNO-cycle elements for the carbon-peculiar subgiants first reported in Koktay & Garrison (2000). The OH lines at 3085-3150 A, NH at 3360 A and CH lines at ~4300 A are detected with a S/N >100, >200 and >600, respectively, at R = 90,000.
