[91.15] The Care and Feeding of the Perseus Spiral Arm

C. M. Brunt (DRAO, U. Calgary), C. R. Kerton, R. Kothes (DRAO), S. J. Gibson (U. Calgary)

We present an analysis of the structure and dynamics of the Perseus Spiral Arm in the Outer Galaxy, as revealed by Canadian Galactic Plane Survey data.

A new distance estimation technique for molecular clouds is used to constrain the structure of the cold material in the Arm. We use HI self absorption and 21 cm continuum absorption to determine the evolutionary relationship between the atomic material, the molecular material and the star forming regions.

This research was funded by the National Research Council of Canada and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
