[111.06] SNAP and Galactic Structure

I. N. Reid (STScI)

The SNAP imaging survey will provide multicolour data extending to HDF-like magnitudes and with ~20 times the areal coverage of the summed imaging by WFPC2. The high spatial resolution of those data make them invaluable for Galactic structure studies, providing accurate star/galaxy separation and the first opportunity for a detailed examination of the stellar distribution fainter than 24th magnitude. I will discuss some of the key issues which can be addressed using such observations
