We report on 250\,GHz continuum observations of a sample of Lyman break galaxies with the Max-Planck Millimeter Bolometer (MAMBO) array at the IRAM 30\,m telescope. Confirming an earlier hypothesis, we find that dust emission is more strongly detected from those sources which have red {\cal R}-K colors than from the members of a control subsample. We discuss the implications of our results for the contribution which high-redshift galaxy populations detected in the rest UV can make to the observed far-IR background.

Operations at IRAM are funded by the CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, France), the MPG (Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, Germany), and the IGN (Instituto Geográfico Nacional, Spain).
