[115.01] NASA Programs and Plans leading upto TPF

P. Crane (NASA Headquarters)

A guiding objective of the Astronomical Search for Origins theme within the Astronomy and Physics Division is to find and to characterize planets and planetary systems around other stars and, in particular, to find those planets that may harbor life. In pursuing this goal, NASA has implemented a broad program which includes developing both the technology base and the knowledge base needed to succeed in this ambitious undertaking. The current scope of the exisiting program will be described as well as some future plans and possible new programs.
