[77.01] The Central Masses of Radio-loud and Radio-quiet Quasars

The first results are presented of a study of the central masses in radio-loud and radio-quiet active galaxies (AGNs). The mass of the central black-hole of an AGN is a fundamental property of the system dictating much of the AGN physics. It thus allows us to learn more about the active nucleus. So in light of recent determinations of the central masses of nearby AGNs, what do these masses tell us? In other words, how do they distribute with other AGN properties? A closer look is taken at the recent claims that radio-loud quasars are typically more massive than the radio-quiet ones.
