[15.01] A Survey of Extra-Galactic X-ray Supernova Remnants

T.G. Pannuti (MIT)

A crucial result of X-ray observations of nearby galaxies using ROSAT, Chandra and XMM is the detection of X-ray emission from SNRs in these galaxies. We are conducting a survey of these X-ray detected extra-galactic SNRs with the intent of generating luminosity functions for these sources and statistically analyzing their properties. The properties of these populations of X-ray emitting SNRs will be compared with the properties of known X-ray emitting Galactic SNRs. Initial results and tentative conclusions for this work will be presented and discussed.
