We have been surveying radio-loud broad absorption line (BAL) quasars using the Chandra X-ray Observatory and XMM-Newton. Unlike their predecessors, the new generation of X-ray telescopes now routinely detects BAL quasars, although the count rates are low. We compare X-ray-to-optical flux ratios and X-ray hardness ratios with properties at other wavebands: the BAL properties, radio properties, apparent reddening, and optical polarization properties. We identify several possible correlations and confirm previously reported differences between classes of BAL quasar. One target in particular, FIRST J1556+3517, shows several striking properties and is the low-ionization BAL quasar with the highest-known X-ray count rate.
