[59.06] High-Redshift and Strong-Lensing Clusters from the RCS

The now-complete Red-Sequence Cluster Survey (RCS) is a ~100 square degree imaging survey in RC and z' designed to detect galaxy clusters to z~1.4. Extensive and ongoing followup of the primary cluster sample demonstrates that this goal has been reached. We will illustrate this with example follow-up data - consisting of optical spectroscopy and deep optical and IR imaging - on a number of z~1 cluster candidates. Eight strong-lensing clusters, three of which show multiple arc systems, will also be presented. These clusters span the redshift range 0.65-1.2, and are eight of the nine highest redshift strong lensing clusters known.
