[4.01U] Light Curve Asymmetry in W Corvi

R. E. Cohen (Wesleyan University), W. Van Hamme (Florida International University)

We solve light and radial velocity curves of the double-lined eclipsing binary W Corvi. Using the Wilson-Devinney program, we derive a unique set of physical parameters consistent with observations obtained over the past 40 years at different epochs.

Light curve asymmetries, which change over time, are modeled using starspots. We find W Corvi to be marginally overcontact. Because of parameter uncertainties, however, we cannot rule out a broken-contact configuration. We discuss our results in light of the thermal relaxation oscillation model for W Ursae Majoris binaries.
