[68.05D] DensePak H\alpha Velocity Fields of Face-On Disk Galaxies

D.R. Andersen (MPIA-Heidelberg), M.A. Bershady (UW-Madison)

We have obtained H\alpha velocity fields for 39 disk galaxies using DensePak on the WIYN 3.5m telescope. The spectral and spatial resolution of these velocity fields are sufficient for us to model and derive kinematic inclination and position angles along with rotation curve parameters at unprecedentedly low inclinations. Here, we present the velocity fields and highlight results from two applications requiring measured kinematic inclinations for nearly face-on disks. First, a face-on Tully-Fisher relation is shown to be consistent with a more typical Tully-Fisher relation derived from inclined systems. Finally, we will show that obtaining accurate and precise kinematic inclinations are the key to estimating disk ellipticity. The measured intrinsic disk ellipticity for our sample is 0.06±.04.
