[125.04D] Active Galactic Nuclei Populations and Luminosity Functions from Sloan Digital Sky Survey

Lei Hao, M. Strauss (Princeton University), SDSS Collaboration

We search for Active Galactic Nuclei in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) spectroscopic sample based on their emission line characteristics. The large number and high S/N galaxy spectra observed by SDSS allow us to form a large uniform AGN sample. Over 3,000 broad line AGNs and 3,000 narrow line AGNs have been found. The luminosity functions of both broad line and narrow line AGNs are calculated and compared with previous studies. The AGN evolution is inferred from comparing the AGN LF with with that of high redshift quasars. In addition, the relationship between these AGNs and their host galaxies is discussed.
