[123.07] Preliminary Infrared Light Curves of Supernov{æ} at z \approx 0.5

We present J-band light curves of seven Type~Ia supernov{æ} located at redshifts of approximately 0.5. These supernov{æ} were observed during the High-z Supernova Search Team\/'s autumn 2000 campaign. At this redshift the observed J-band light curve approximately corresponds to the rest-frame I~band, so a direct comparison can be made between local and high-redshift Type Ia supernov{æ} at wavelengths where the effects of interstellar extinction are small. The goal of this study is to compare Type~Ia supernov{æ} at z \approx 0 and z \approx 0.5 in order to identify possible systematic differences that could cloud our understanding of the acceleration of the Universe.
