[52.03] The Properties of Radio Selected Galaxies in HIPASS and SDSS

We present a preliminary analysis of the properties of radio selected galaxies that fall within both the HI Parkes All Sky Survey (HIPASS) and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). From SDSS photometry, we have obtained optical properties such as color, morphology, surface brightness and size. SDSS spectra yield rough properties of the ISM such as metallicity, SFR, and extinction. By comparing these with the HI properties derived from HIPASS, we are able to show relationships between the cool gas (which has the potential to make stars), and the current generation of stars.
