[59.03D] A BIMA Survey of Arcminute Scale CMB Anisotropy

On arcminute angular scales, secondary anisotropies such as the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) effect in clusters of galaxies are expected to dominate the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) power spectrum. Observation of the CMB at these angular scales therefore has the potential to serve as a powerful probe of structure formation. A survey of arcminute scale anisotropy with the BIMA array has accumulated over 1000 hours of integration on eighteen independent fields. The survey now covers approximately 0.2 square degrees of sky at an RMS temperature sensitivity of 15 \muK for a two arcminute synthesized beam. We find a significant detection of excess power at the angular scales at which the SZ effect is expected to dominate. Results of these observations will be presented.
