[13.12] Radio and X-ray Interactions in the Core of Abell 2029

T. E. Clarke, E. L. Blanton, C. L. Sarazin (Univ. of Virginia)

Observations with Chandra have shown that radio sources and the dense ICM in the cores of clusters of galaxies have a profound effect on one another. In many cases, cavities or "bubbles" are created in the X-ray gas. These bubbles can then rise buoyantly transporting energy and magnetic fields throughout the ICM. We present Chandra observations of the inner regions of the galaxy cluster Abell 2029 which reveal X-ray substructure. We discuss the connection between the X-ray substructure and the central radio source (PKS 1509+59). We also present the temperature map of the cluster and the abundance distribution.
