We present an x-ray study of heavily absorbed, IR-selected AGN derived from the Two Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS), and a comparison with local AGN. 2MASS AGN are low-redshift (median z ~0.25), luminous, red, and predominantly broad-line objects. To our sample of 26 objects observed during Cycle 2 of Chandra, we now add observations from the current Cycle, increasing the sample size by about a third. The initial sample of 26 showed no correlation between optical classification and x-ray hardness ratios, casting doubt on a simple line-of-sight based unification scheme. We re-examine the results using the bigger sample. The 2MASS AGN raise the question of whether their obscuration is similar to or different from that of well-known nearby AGN like NGC 1068 (z = 0.00379). We subject x-ray observations of such local AGN that are available in the Chandra Archive to analysis similar to that done on the 2MASS AGN, and compare the results.
