We briefly review the Galactic microquasar SS 433 associated with the supernova remnant W50. We then present a new RXTE/PCA spectral and timing study of SS433. We show that the X-ray flux decreases during radio flares, a behavior seen in other microquasars. We also find short time-scale variability unveiling emission regions from within the binary system. We discuss the implications of our study on the nature of this puzzling system. SSH acknowledges support by NSERC.
