We report on our preliminary analysis of data obtained during the performance verification phase observations of the Cygnus region. Emphasis is placed on the full-spectral de-convolution methods under study at the Goddard Space Flight Center, using a pre-release version of the forthcoming XSPEC-12 software. The background is modeled following a quasi-empirical procedure and simultaneously fitted to the data with one or more source models. Our results are compared to measurements from the other INTEGRAL instruments and from separate SPI analyses utilizing alternative methods. In addition, we present a cross-comparison of our results on Cygnus X-1 to near simultaneous RXTE measurements made during the PV phase. Future plans for enhancements to the software, improved approaches to modeling the background, and the scheduled release of XSPEC-12 and related tools are additionally discussed.
