We present the results of our study of discrete X-ray sources in the nearby spiral galaxy NGC 300, based on XMM-Newton observations. We have obtained a source list for this galaxy down to a completeness limit of 1036 erg s-1. We have also made multi-band source identifications, using the Optical Monitor images to estimate brightnesses in the UV band. We report the global properties (luminosity and color distribution) of the discrete source population, and also investigate the X-ray counterparts to the radio and optical supernova remnants. In addition, we report on a recurrent ultra-luminous supersoft (60 eV) X-ray source in the galaxy, for which a possible 5.4-hr periodicity is found. This research was supported by a NASA LTSA grant, NAG5-10705.
