We will present an overview of the ground calibration campaign for the high-resolution X-ray Spectrometer (XRS), which will be launched in 2005 as part of the ASTRO-E2 mission. The XRS consists of a microcalorimeter array with a nearly constant energy resolution of 6 eV across the operating band of 0.4 - 10 keV. The effective area of the spectrometer has a maximum of about 200 cm2 at 1.5 keV. We will describe the program to calibrate and characterize the line spread function, the energy scale, and the effective area, and we will present our preliminary results.
