[28.01] Electromagnetic and Gravitational-Wave Signatures of the Earliet Supermassive Black Holes

A. Loeb (IAS, Princeton and Harvard University)

Black holes weighing more than a billion solar masses are known to exist at a redshift of ~6, only a billion years after the big bang. I will describe simple theoretical models for their formation and growth. These models predict gravitational wave and X-ray signatures that will be testable with future missions, such as LISA, Con-X and EXIST.
