[47.03] The Pisgah Automated Survey: A Photometruc Search for Low-mass Eclipsing Binaries and other Variable Stars

The Pisgah Survey, located at the facilities of the Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute in Rosman, NC, is a low-cost project to acquire fully-automated I-band photometry of selected areas of sky. The survey collects multiple images of about 16.47 sq. deg. of sky per night, searching for variability in over 8,000 stars with apparent magnitudes brighter than I= 15. The main scientific goal of this project is to detect new low-mass detached eclipsing binaries to improve the mass-radius relation for the lower main sequence. As a by-product, the survey also discovers other varieties of variable stars.

In this poster we present a technical description of the survey, including the software routines developed to automate the operations of the telescope, the dome, and the camera, and those to reduce and analyze the data. We also present the results of our variable stars search for the first 10 fields (16.47 sq. deg.) monitored by the survey.
