Galaxy cluster surveys using the Sunyaev-Zeldovich (SZ) effect offer a promising approach to studying the growth of structure. I will outline the important features of the SZ effect that make it amenable to studies of dark energy as well as some details that will require a better understanding if SZ surveys are to provide precise estimates of cosmological parameters.
