For the next launch window of the Rosetta mission, new asteroid targets have been proposed as function of several scenarios. Near-IR observations (0.9-2.4 micron) were carried out with NASA’s IRTF using the SpeX instrument on March 2003. The remote observing technique was used between the telescope and the remote control office located 12000 km away, in Meudon-France. This paper presents the spectra of asteroids 21 Lutetia, 89 Julia, 140 Siwa and (5480) 1989 YK8. Near-IR spectra of 140 Siwa and 21 Lutetia are consistent with the typical featureless C-type spectrum, with an increasing slope of 3% and 2.5% respectively. The spectra of 89 Julia and (5480) 1989 YK8 reveal absorption bands around 1 and 2 microns respectively which may indicate the presence of pyroxene and olivine-pyroxene mixtures. The SMASS-II visible spectrum of 89 Julia was merged with our infrared spectrum and confirms the S-type designation. For the small main-belt asteroid (5480) 1989 YK8 there is no visible spectrum available, and the taxonomic designation into the igneous/metamorphic taxonomic classes remains to be confirmed.
