[111.08] A Study of HVCs

E.G. Schmidt, C. Pantoja, M. Lebron (NAIC Arecibo Observatory)

A list of high velocity clouds (HVCs) and intermediate velocity clouds (IVCs) suitable for absorption-line observations was compiled. Using the Arecibo Standard Point Source Catalog and the Atlas of Galactic Neutral Hydrogen by Hartmann and Burton(1997), a final list of four HVCs and IVCs were located within ±1° of strong continuum sources (a total of 110 continuum sources were searched). Once the clouds were located, their peak emissions were found along with their approximate sizes, and central velocities. This information was then recorded in a table according to the flux density of the adjacent continuum source. This list will be used for a search of molecular lines. I would like to thank NAIC Arecibo Observatory for this opportunity.
