[82.02] X-ray Properties of Lyman Break Galaxies in the Great Observatories Origins Deep Survey

B.D. Lehmer (Penn State)

We present results from X-ray stacking analyses, using the 2 Ms Chandra Deep Field-North and 1 Ms Chandra Deep Field-South, that constrain the X-ray emission of Lyman break galaxies (LBGs) at z ~ 2-6. Positions of 315, 577, 123, and 47 known LBGs with z ~ 3, 4, 5, and 6, respectively were stacked to constrain mean X-ray properties. Several subsets of LBGs at these redshifts were also stacked based on their morphologies and optical luminosities. When stacked, we detect the X-ray emission from LBGs at z ~ 3 and 4 and constrain the emission at z ~ 5 and 6. The mean X-ray to B-Band luminosity ratio Lx/LB of these galaxies is slightly elevated in comparison to local starburst galaxies. We futhermore place significant new constraints upon the active galactic nucleus content of these LBGs.
