[52.09] Structural Parameters of Globular Clusters in M87

C. Z. Waters, S. E. Zepf (Mich. State University)

We present constraints on the King model concentrations and tidal radii of globular clusters in M87. This is achieved by matching two dimensional images of model clusters with known structual parameters to the observed globular clusters on our data image. We apply this technique to an optimally combined HST/WFPC2 image of M87. As M87 has a rich system of globular clusters that can be resolved, it provides an excellent test case to demonstrate our method. The results of this analysis will help provide the first determination of these properties for the M87 globular clusters, and will constrain the mass distribution and orbits for these clusters. We also present results from a separate project that examines the FUV properties of the jet in M87.
