[47.06] Chandra Observation of the Cooling Flow in Abell 262

Abell 262 is a low-redshift, richness class 0 cluster with a central dusty cD galaxy with no significant star formation. The cD hosts a double-lobed radio source. Radio source heating of the intracluster medium is one of the most promising solutions to the "cooling flow problem" (sufficient quantities of gas are not found at sufficiently low temperatures, as based on expectations from X-ray data). We will present the Chandra-derived mass-deposition rate into the cluster center from the cooling flow. When the luminosity of the cooling gas is compared with the total energy output of the radio source (as measured by the size and pressure in a shell surrounding a bubble inflated in the X-ray gas), we find that the AGN does not emit enough energy to offset the cooling, unless the current outburst is less powerful than average, or the repetition rate of the outbursts is higher than for other sources. In addition, we will present the overall cluster properties, including temperature and abundance profiles.
