[32.01] The Halo of M 31 as Seen by SDSS

The Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) 2.5m telescope observed a stripe approximately 2.5 degrees wide along the major axis of M 31, and the resulting images were processed through the SDSS pipeline. We have begun an analysis of these data to search for stellar substructure in the halo of M 31 as well as possible tidal features, such as those detected by Ibata et al. (2001), Ferguson et al. (2002), and McConnachie et al. (2003). We discuss our methodology, and present some early results from this project.
