The Galaxy Evolution Explorer is a NASA explorer mission launched on April 28th this year. By the end of 2003 the mission will have surveyed more then 2000 square degrees in two ultraviolet bands (1350-1800Åand 1800-2800Å), in some fields down to a limiting magnitude of AB ~ 25.5. Although the primary goal of the GALEX mission is to investigate the evolution of star formation in galaxies over a redshift range 0 < z < 2, the mission is well suited to survey the UV properties of AGN. Preliminary work on matching the GALEX UV sources to catalogs of AGN (e.g. SDSS, 2QZ, FBQS) will be presented.
