In January 2002, Brown et al. (2002) discovered and observed the outburst of a star, now designated V838 Monocerotis. It has since been observed by numerous sources including Wisniewski et al. (2003), Munari et al. (2002), Kimeswegner et al. (2002), and Bond et al. (2003). In a few of these papers, the born-again, or very late thermal pulse, scenario has been ruled out on various grounds. We present here evidence that refutes at least some of those claims and so we may require a second look at the possibility that V838 Mon either is a born-again giant, or at least some related variation of a born-again giant. We also present a light curve for a born-again model during outburst and find a remarkable resemblance to that of V838 Mon.
