[33.21] Spitzer Observations of the High Redshift Universe

Through observation of sources detected in submillimeter surveys and of lensing clusters, it has been possible to detect a number of objects with Spitzer that are at z > 2. In some cases, the very high redshifts are already known from spectroscopic data, but in many they can be determined for the first time by fitting the spectral energy distributions obtained with Spitzer to template SEDs. These very high redshift, high luminosity galaxies must represent the formation of very massive systems. We will discuss their spatial density and the properties of individual sources.
