[48.13] X-ray emission from low redshift 2MASS-selected galaxies in the Bootes Field and Implications for Star Formation

We have used CXO ACIS-I observations of the Bootes field to determine the X-ray emission from a stacked sample of 140 2MASS galaxies with redshifts ranging from z ~0 to z ~0.1. Both the averaged radial profile and spectrum of these objects will be presented. The radial profile falls off steeply out to ~10 arcseconds, but it is unlikely that AGN are the source of the observed X-rays because the mean X-ray luminosity is orders of magnitude below what one would expect for AGN. It is therefore assumed that X-ray binaries are the principle sources of the X-rays, and that consequently these observations provide a link to star formation history at low redshift. Tight correlations between X-ray emissions of similar nearby galaxies (ie. Colbert et. al. 2004) and their IR, optical, and UV luminosities further strengthen this assumption.
