[2.10] High-Spatial Resolution Observations of Flow Fields in Solar Active Region NOAA 10486

G. Yang, Y. Xu, W. Cao, H. Wang, C. Denker (New Jersey Institute of Technology), T.R. Rimmele (National Solar Observatory)

We present high-spatial resolution observations of proper motions in solar active region NOAA 10486 using the newly developed high-order adaptive optics (AO) system at the Dunn Solar Telescope (DST) of the National Solar Observatory/Sacramento Peak (NSO/SP) on 2003 October 29. The images were obtained with high-order AO, frame selection, and speckle masking image reconstruction. We analyze a two hour time series with 1-minute cadence in the context of an X10 white-light flare. Local correlation tracking (LCT) was used to measure the horizontal proper motions in the photosphere and relate them to the strong shear observed in the magnetic field configuration.
